Have you ever held yourself back because there are so many people doing what you do? You feel like you’re not good enough to be out there doing your thing against the other superstars in your field?
Maybe you’re holding yourself back from growing your business, and sharing your message in a bigger way for fear of being judged? Of not being as good as others in your niche.
Or maybe you’re afraid to go all in on your business idea because the idea of having a weekly income in your job is like being wrapped in a warm doona, on a cold and rainy Sunday morning.
If you’re asking yourself, “Who am I to be doing this?”
You need to change that monologue right now.
Who are you NOT to be doing this?
You have knowledge gained over years of experience in your vocation which is unique to you. You also have life experiences that provide you with experiences and challenges, from a perspective that no-one else has seen. There are people out there who need exactly what you bring to the table.
Nobody is doing what you do, exactly the way you do it. However, most people fail to own their “uniqueness”, and instead, they try and fit in.
Except they BLEND in. With everybody else.
You don’t want to blend in. You want to stand out, for all the right reasons, and create a unique coaching business model.
If you get this right, you won’t have to worry about your competitors, because you can’t compare apples with oranges.
So how do you do this? There are three column’s you need to create:
-
What is your learned knowledge?
This could be your qualification, or the job you have been working in for the past few years. This is the nuts and bolts of ‘what’ you can help people with. In the first column, write down all the things you do in your current job or business, or have done in the past. If you’ve had a couple of different jobs or worked in different industries, write down all the tasks and jobs in each of those industries, as you may be able to mix something really unique.
-
What are your unique skills?
These could be the skills you’ve picked up along the journey of life, that add another layer or dimension to your learned knowledge. Or they could be the skills that you notice come really easily to you. I call these your zone of genius.
For example, you could be a business coach (learned knowledge), who’s zone of genius is being able to create and implement systems and procedures to improve efficiencies (unique skills).
-
What are your life experiences?
Noting life experiences like divorce, losing a large amount of weight, being a competitive athlete, or being a parent, are all experiences which bring a unique perspective to what you do and how you deliver your message. These experiences can bring a unique flavour to your work, and make you relatable to your target market.
Once you have your three lists, you can start exploring the different ways you can bring these aspects of your knowledge, skills and experiences together, to create something that is truly unique to you, not only with your products, but also with your branding and marketing.
