As a business owner, you know that to make sales you need an audience to sell to. Most entrepreneurs are quick to jump on Social Media and create some sort of presence, but most don’t give much thought to building their list.
Before you create your entire audience on “rented real estate”, ie. the online real estate owned by Mr Zuckerberg and Co, you need to also gather email addresses from your potential clients.

On social media, your posts and engagements are subject to the platform’s policies, and your content can be censored or taken down at any time.
On the other hand, your email list is yours, and you have full control over it. You can segment your depending on your targets, and you can even trim down your list to exclude inactive and non responding accounts. And of course, exposure and engagements are earned without costs of social media advertising! Your customers can receive your message for free, and you can engage without paying extra.

2. You can get more personal.
Unlike a social media post, each email you send can be personalized for the receiver, and thus the exchange will feel more intimate.
You are also able to segment your email list depending on consumer behavior and other demographic profiles. This means you can send different emails to different groups, depending on what they are most likely to interact with.
3. People open emails everyday – even at work.
There are over 3.8 billion active email accounts in the world. People may not open their email every hour, but they do check it out everyday – even at work. This is because many workplaces ban Social Media use during office hours, and the usual internal communication is through email (of course!).
4. You get a great ROI on email marketing
Email marketing is the king of the marketing kingdom, and according to Campaign Monitor, offers a 4400% ROI and $44 for every $1 spent. That’s some pretty impressive stats that are not to be ignored.
